False vaccination certificates: the authorities initiate criminal proceedings

Authorities have arrested people who manufactured, used or traded fake vaccination cards.

Criminal charges have been filed in recent weeks against violations of the Public Health Act in connection with the obtaining, use or distribution of false vaccination certificates, the anti-corruption officer said in a press release on Thursday.

This followed UPAC investigations launched last January into various fraudulent schemes linked to fake vaccination certificates.

In addition to these criminal cases, several other cases are submitted to the Director of Prosecutions and Prosecutions (DPCP) for analysis, both criminal and penal, the commissioner specified.

Around thirty criminal proceedings are still pending.

As a reminder, the DPCP issued a statement last February, stating that “crimes committed in connection with the manufacture or use of a false vaccination card should not be subject to extrajudicial treatment or any alternative remedy”.
