Conway reunites with his family, who burst into tears upon finding their pet missing after 10 months
In November 2021, Conway’s family had a hard time when their dog disappeared from their home in Highlands County, Florida. Everyone searched everywhere for the dog, but to no avail.
Over time, the feeling of sadness turned into a bittersweet reminder of the happy moments they had with the beloved family pet. But things were about to have a happy ending.
Last week, 10 months after Conway’s disappearance, he was seen already much thinner walking down a street alone, exhausted. The dog was taken to the sheriff’s office, where he began caring for him.
Dogs can’t explain what happens when they get lost, but Conway had the answers everyone needed. The dog was microchipped and after a quick scan, authorities already had the information to contact the family.
When they meet again, the family cannot hold back their emotions and bursts into tears of joy. Netizens were also moved by the scene, which was shared on the Highlands County Sheriff’s Facebook page.
“That was really special! Thank you for sharing! I cried!” one commented, “This baby is like ‘Who is this dog?’. I actually cried when I saw this video. So exciting,” commented another. “This just made my eyes roll down my face,” added another.
In the release, the Animal Services Unit team warns that owners should microchip their pets because it can make all the difference in cases like Conway’s.
“The primary goal of the Animal Services Unit is to return animals to their owners or, failing that, to find them new homes,” Scott Dressel of the Sheriff’s Office told The Dodo. “Whenever we do that, it’s a win, but this is one of those that definitely sets us all apart.”
