Fans are furious after a hit Netflix show was canceled after just two seasons.
The streaming giant has decided to pull the plug on Shadow and Bone and its spin-off Six of Crows – even though the scripts are ready.
Leigh Bardugo’s young adult novel was a smash hit when it first appeared on Netflix in 2021.
After months of strikes by actors and writers, streaming companies are evaluating their production, with Netflix also axing “Glamorous,” “Agent Elvis,” “Farzar” and “Captain Fall.”
The author of the young adult novels “Shadow and Bones” and “Six of Crows” announced the devastating news to her 650,000 followers on Instagram yesterday.

Author Leigh Bardugo is “heartbroken and deeply disappointed,” but emphasizes: “Most authors never get the opportunity to see their works adapted.”
Leigh said: “Friends, by now you’ve probably heard that there will be no season 3 for Shadow and Bone and no spin-off of Six of Crows.”
“The news hit me hard. I am heartbroken and deeply disappointed, but I am also trying to hold on to my true gratitude.
“Most authors never get the opportunity to see their works adapted.” Many who do end up regretting the experience. “I am one of the lucky few who can view an adaptation with pride and great joy.”
The fantasy novelist thanked her “authors, her team and the extraordinary cast, who are not only extremely talented but really good people.”
Although she was devastated, the author ended her post with “no mourners,” although she said, “I’m going to have a cry and maybe a drink and then see where the story takes us next.”
Fans were devastated by the news and many took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to express their dismay.

“Shadow and Bone” borrowed elements from Leigh’s core trilogy of the same name, as well as her duology “Six of Crows.”
It is set in the Grisha universe, which includes the nations of Ravka, Fjerda, Shu Han, Kerch, Novyi Zem and the Wandering Isle. They all adopt languages and traditions from real-world countries.

The Shadow and Bone season 2 finale was released on March 16 this year after the show debuted on April 23, 2021.
