It came out of nowhere. We cried with excitement when we saw Taylor and then she fell. People pulled them out, we were right at the railing, and then I jumped over the railing and ran to their base. Daniele Menin, in an interview with Jornal Hoje (Globo)
Daniele said there was quick medical attention on the scene and the friend was then taken to the Salgado Filho municipal hospital. “They reacted there, they started trying to resuscitate her and I was desperate because I saw it was serious. They called the ambulance and as far as I know she had to stop there again in the ambulance.”
The Salgado Filho Municipal Hospital stated that the patient arrived at the ward at 8:50 p.m. in cardiac arrest. “Resuscitation maneuvers were carried out but unfortunately she did not survive. The event was private and the organizers contracted for medical care.”
For Splash, Weiny Machado stated that there may have been negligence in his daughter’s death. “Nothing will bring my daughter back. What I can say is that there was negligence somewhere. I don’t know if it was the lack of water that caused several people to faint. I don’t know if it was because of the ban on bringing water and the lack of it.”
Gabriela Benevides, cousin of Ana Clara Benevides, stated that the young woman drank water and ate before she passed out. “She got water because she was right in front of the stage. She also got food. Just happiness and joy,” said Gabriela Squirt after leaving the police station.
T4F issued a statement regretting the incident. “Ana Clara felt unwell and was immediately attended to by the team of brigade members and paramedics and taken to the Nilton Santos Stadium infirmary for first aid. Given the situation, the medical team decided to transfer her to Salgado Filho Hospital, where he unfortunately died after almost an hour of emergency care. Our sincerest condolences go out to the family and friends of Ana Clara Benevides Machado.”
