FAO presents plan against hunger and climate crisis news

In the fight against hunger and global warming, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) has presented a comprehensive program of action. The goals include reducing the number of people going hungry by 150 million by 2025 and ending global forest destruction and all illegal and unregulated fishing by 2030.

The objective is also to reduce by 50 percent the amount of food thrown away that is still usable, as stated in the “roadmap” presented today at the climate conference in Dubai. The aim is also to reduce climate-damaging methane emissions in the agricultural sector, emitted mainly by cattle and sheep, by 25% by 2030, compared to 2020.

According to UN data, around 735 million people were malnourished in 2022. Around 3.1 billion people did not have access to healthy food. On the other hand, it is estimated that around 4.2 million people have an unhealthy diet, which promotes cardiovascular diseases, overweight and obesity, he said.
