Eden HazardCaptain and forward of Belgium, announced his retirement from his team after the European team in the group stage of the World Cup Qatar 2022. With a heartfelt message on his social networks, the Real Madrid player ended his stage in his country’s jersey and thanked the fans for the support he had received from day one.

“Today a page will be turned. Thank you for your love. Thank you for your unprecedented support. Thank you for all this happiness shared since 2008. I have decided to end my international career‘ the attacker wrote on his Instagram account.

Following the announcement, the former Chelsea forward not only received messages of affection from the fans, but also a special tribute from the Belgian FA. “All the best, Captain,” read the comments.

Eden Hazard’s numbers with Belgium

Since making his international debut 14 years ago, Hazard he played 126 games in the 133 calls he’s had. He also scored 33 goals and earned a well-deserved third place at the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

In the current international championship, Eden failed to score or provide an assist. He failed to come through with a good game in the three games he played either, as he was substituted midway through the second half against Canada and Morocco and came on with Croatia in the final minutes of the game.
