Milan – He died in Milan at the age of 85 Carlo Bonomi one of the most brilliant voices on TV , and not just Italian. In fact, few knew his face, but many heard his voice, which has been associated with some of the most popular characters in advertising, cartoons, and even train stations.
His voice was indeed that which characterized the hippopotamus Pippo of the Lines diapers, Calimero , Captain Findus but mainly the line the one-dimensional character invented by Osvaldo Cavandoli in 1971. It was precisely the pyrotechnic interpretation of the voice of the line, which had to be silent in the original idea, that made Bonomi’s fortune that linked his name “non-verbal” dubs composed of onomatopoeic verses and escalations, a sort of parallel language that brought adults and children into agreement so much that someone associated it with the Grammelot staged by Dario Fo . One of Bonomi’s most recent works was dedicated to children: the dubbing “in Italian” of all characters from the Swiss animated series pingu very similar to the line voice.
Bonomi has given his voice an infinite number of characters: the giant friend of the Ferrero commercials, the mosquitoes that end up “dead” in the Raid commercials, the voiceover of Coccolino, the magician G Galbusera, from Vecchia Romagna. Bonomi has also voiced cartoons such as Mickey Mouse, Ancestors Fred Flintstone, Exploring the Human Body, and Spider-Man. Between 1985 and 2008 he was also the spokesman for the main train station, announcing arrivals, departures and, above all, delays and cancellations.
