Farewell to Lolita Rodrigues; The actress died this Sunday at the age of 94
She lived discreetly. The actress’ last snap was a photo from 2021, before she got vaccinated against Covid.
In recent days, Lolita developed pneumonia and was admitted to a private hospital in the capital, Paraíba. This Sunday (5) she passed away at 4:30 am.
The body of Lolita Rodrigues will be cremated this Monday (6) in a ceremony limited to the family in João Pessoa.
Lolita Rodrigues was not only a radio singer, but also a presenter and television pioneer. She always dreamed of becoming an actress. On Globo she played several dramatic roles and was also a villain.
“I remember a song she sang ‘Verde, verde, verde limón’. She sings with her mother, I adjusted the microphone so that she could sing. I was an audio operator. We became such good friends. She was the only person older than I did on TV. I was alone,” says Lima Duarte.
“A very important person in Brazilian radio and television. Now the trio in heaven is complete: Lolita Rodrigues, Nair Belo and Hebe Camargo. “It has to be a damn good party,” emphasizes Ary Fontoura.
Presenter Serginho Groisman also said goodbye to the last happiest trio on television: “Lolita joins Nair, Hebe and Jô today. Guaranteed laughter in heaven.”
Marcello Camargo, son of Hebe Camargo, wrote: “I am sure my mother will welcome her today with much love, this friend for life and for eternity!”
Actress Lilia Cabral sent a message: “Lolita was a great woman, strong, intelligent, beautiful. I will never forget your affection and your responsible approach to television professionals.”
Writer and playwright Walcyr Carrasco said: “Rest in peace, my dear and eternal Lolita Rodrigues, one of the great pioneers of Brazilian television. Art mourns!”
Singer Aguinaldo Rayol, Lolita’s television partner, said goodbye to his friend: “It seems like I’m doing the show and you’re going to work with me. May you always be remembered by all of us. Lolita Rodrigues, the popular Brazilian star. God is with you.”
Lolita Rodrigues was born in 1929 and began her artistic career ten years later, still on the radio.
This was already evident when Brazilian television was founded in 1950. It was Lolita Rodrigues who sang the Brazilian television anthem, replacing her friend Hebe Camargo, who was unable to attend.
Her artistic career began in the late 1930s. Lolita was 10 years old when she began singing on the radio and starring in radio soap operas.
Lolita was born in Santos, on the coast of São Paulo. And at the age of 13 he moved to São Paulo with his family. I lived in a village near a church in the Eastern Zone.
In the 1950s, Lolita debuted as an actress in the soap opera “A Muralha” on TV Record.
She did important work on soap operas on Tupi and Excelsior and hosted the programs “Almoço com as Estrelas” and “Clube dos Artes” together with her then husband Aírton Rodrigues.
In 1963, she played Laura in “25499 Ocupado,” the first daily soap opera on Brazilian television.
She made her Globo debut in 1986 in the miniseries “Memórias de um gigolô”, in which she played Antonieta.
He took part in successful soap operas such as “Sassaricando”, “Rainha da Sucata”, “Despedida de Solteiro”, “A Viagem” and “Terra Nostra”.
In the 2000s, he filmed “Uga Uga” and “Kubanacan” with his good friend Nair Belo.
Lolita’s last work on Globo was “Viver a Vida” in 2009 with the character Noêmia.
