Although television never met with great commercial success, Verlaine’s rugged and imaginative playing influenced many musicians. Television have released their groundbreaking debut album “marquee moon” 1977, including the almost 11-minute title track and “Elevation”, and the second work “Adventure” one year later.
Growing tensions between Verlaine and fellow guitarist Richard Lloyd led to Television’s dissolution after their second album, Adventure. The group would reunite in 1992 for a self-titled album on Capitol Records and sporadic live performances.
Verlaine published Eight solo albumshis most commercially successful was his 1981 second album “dreamtime‘, which peaked at number 177 on the Billboard album chart.
