Farewell to Treat Williams, from Hair to Once Upon a Time in America Ultima Ora

(ANSA) — ROME, JUNE 13 — From the hippie leader of Hair Hair, Milos Forman’s film adaptation of the Broadway musical, which starred Dr. Andy Brown from the Everwood series received a Golden Globe nomination. But also Once Upon a Time in America by Sergio Leone and 1941 – Alarm in Hollywood by Steven Spielberg as well as famous TV series like Deep Rising, Blue Bloods and Chicago Fire. The world of cinema mourns the passing of actor Treat Williams, who died suddenly yesterday at the age of 71 following a motorcycle accident.

The actor’s death was confirmed to People by his agent Barry McPherson, who said “a car cut him off.”

“I am devastated. He was a wonderful man – he said – and he was so talented. He was a great actor. The filmmakers loved him. He’s been the heart of Hollywood since the late ’70s.”

His varied career has spanned many roles in film, television and theatre. There are many colleagues who think of him affectionately during these hours. “Treat and I,” wrote James Woods, “spent months in Rome filming Once Upon a Time in America.” It could have been a stressful and lonely time, but his good humor and sense of humor were a godsend.
