A worker in his 30s was mowed down by a truck in Pointe-Claire on the west of the island of Montreal on Wednesday night.
According to the Sûreté du Québec (SQ), emergency services were called to a collision that occurred around 3:15 a.m. near kilometer 52 on Highway 40 westbound.
According to initial information, the vehicle in which the person was traveling started rolling for an unknown reason before mowing down the worker who was on the way.

The victim, who suffered serious injuries, was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead, said SQ spokesman Camille Savoie.
A reconstructionist and an accident investigator were dispatched to the scene to attempt to determine the causes and circumstances of this fatal collision.
The Commission for Standards, Equity, Health and Safety at Work (CNESST) was also informed about this accident at a highway construction site.
Westbound traffic on Highway 40 was snarled Thursday morning with two of three lanes closed, it said.
