A motorist was killed Monday night when he collided head-on with a tractor on Route 109 in Amos, Abitibi-Témiscamingue.
The collision happened around 7 p.m. when a vehicle swerved from its lane and struck an oncoming tractor, summarized Catherine Bernard, spokeswoman for the Sûreté du Québec (SQ).
The victim, a 26-year-old man, was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The driver of the tractor was not injured in the accident.
Distracted driving may have played a role in the accident. A specialized investigator was expected on site to determine the circumstances of the accident and to verify this hypothesis.
