Fatal shooting in film Rust: Alec Baldwin again charged with manslaughter – Radio-Canada.ca

American actor Alec Baldwin has been charged again with manslaughter following a fatal shooting on the set of the 2021 film Rust.

The case against him was officially dropped in April, with several twists and turns in this case, but prosecutors warned at the time that the actor was not yet exonerated and was likely to be implicated again.

In its press release announcing this new twist, the prosecutor's office does not explain what led the courts to put the 65-year-old actor back at the center of the case.

On October 21, 2021, the filming of the Western Rust in New Mexico (southwest of the United States) turned into drama when Mr. Baldwin aimed a gun that supposedly contained only empty bullets, but contained a projectile that had Very Real and killed the cameraman Halyna Hutchins and the injured director Joel Souza.

The actor protested his innocence from the start. He always maintained that he had been assured that his weapon was harmless and also denied having pulled the trigger.

According to American media, he faces 18 months in prison if convicted.

The film's gunsmith, Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, is also charged with manslaughter in the case.

During the initial investigation, police concluded that it was she who had put the ammunition in the gun used by Mr Baldwin, and not a dummy.
