A new legal step for Alec Baldwin. After charges against him in a fatal shooting on the set of the film “Rust” were initially dropped, the American actor was charged again with involuntary manslaughter on Friday, January 19th. In her press release about the new indictment, the public prosecutor in charge did not give any reasons for her decision.

On October 21, 2021, the filming of the Western Rust in New Mexico (USA) turned into a drama. Alec Baldwin aimed a gun that was supposed to contain only blank bullets, but a real projectile killed cinematographer Halyna Hutchins and injured director Joel Souza. This rare news shocked Hollywood and provoked calls for a ban on firearms on sets.

Actor denies pulling the trigger

The 65-year-old actor, who faces 18 months in prison if convicted, protested his innocence from the start. He has always maintained that he was assured that his weapon was harmless and denied pulling the trigger. However, according to Variety magazine, a new assessment of the weapon in question concluded that it could only be fired by pulling the trigger.

The weapon, which was broken during FBI testing as part of the initial investigation, had to be rebuilt and was the subject of conflicting expert opinions.
