Fate continues to hang over Stephen Strasburg. The Washington Nationals pitching ace is back on the injured list after a return to the game.
This was announced by Nats manager Dave Martinez on Monday. Strasburg was due to start his second game of the season on Tuesday but felt unwell during a training session on Saturday.
The 33-year-old athlete made his only start of the season on June 9 against the Miami Marlins, who were previously recovering from surgery in 2021.
Strasburg looked pretty bad against the Marlins, eventually allowing seven runs with eight hits and two walks in just four and two-thirds innings in a 7-3 loss.
The gunner has not been spared from injuries since winning the World Series MVP honor in 2019. In fact, he’s only been 31 1/3 innings on the mound since the start of the 2020 season, the season in which his seven-year contract ended, the $245 million value that went into effect. The third year of this agreement therefore ends in 2022.
