Father of four (43) forever paralyzed after blowing his nose

The Australian, who plays real sports, suddenly fainted while cleaning his nose. Since then, he has been paralyzed from the neck down.

Nurse Kirsty Bronner (34) started her own cosmetics line five years ago. Business was good, but then the mother of four’s family was completely sidetracked by a severe blow of fate.

In an article published in the “Chron” on Sunday, the Australian now recalls the terrible day of January 2, 2022, which would forever change the life of her partner and all her relatives. Her 43-year-old companion – who does not want to be named – was blowing his nose when he suddenly fainted.

“I heard a bang coming from the bathroom. I ran in and found my partner lying on the floor passed out,” she describes the first few seconds of shock. The diagnosis came as a shock: when she fell, she hit her neck hard on a bench and severely dislocated a vertebra.

Doctors operated for six hours straight, but could no longer repair the damage. The athlete, who ran ten kilometers every day, suddenly could not move anymore. Since then, he’s been paralyzed from the neck down and can’t even stand.

Six tough months

Her partner was only able to return home after six months in hospital and rehabilitation. The time until then was difficult for the whole family.

“The emotional and mental stress was so bad I couldn’t take care of business,” continued Kirsty. A sales partner was still processing orders for her, but she had to put everything else on hold. Her sister, who also works in the mixed company, also had to take a break to help her with their four children. The store is now flourishing again.

“A very bad feeling”

Despite the sad certainty that the 43-year-old will likely never be able to move again, one question still hangs over the family like the sword of Damocles: could they have prevented the accident?

The 34-year-old says her partner expressed discomfort on New Year’s Day because of a “bad feeling that something bad was about to happen”. It happened the next day too. “I’ll never forget what I was told to believe something bad was about to happen. Looking back on it now, I get goosebumps.”
