Presenter Fausto Silva is developing well after the heart transplant carried out on Sunday (27) and has been transferred from the intensive care unit to the semiintensive care unit, where he continues his rehabilitation, says the Albert Einstein Hospital bulletin of this Friday (1).

“The patient Fausto Silva continues to develop well after the heart transplant that took place last Sunday (August 27) at the Hospital Israelita Albert Einstein. Cardiac function remains normal and uneventful. Today he was moved to the half ward. intensively and continues the rehabilitation process.”

On Thursday (31), he recorded a video to thank everyone who supported his recovery, especially the family of the donor of his new heart. Faustão underwent a heart transplant at the Abert Einstein Hospital in São Paulo on Sunday (27) and remains in intensive care (Watch the video below).

Faustão records a video for the first time since the transplant to thank fans

“I would especially like to thank José Pereira da Silva, Fábio’s father, who showed an incredible greatness and an absurd generosity that ensured that I stayed alive. I am moved, he gave me the chance to live again,” he says Faustão.

The presenter further spoke about the heart donor in the video posted on Instagram. At another point in the video, he movedly said to Fábio’s family: “I will never forget you. And one day I will thank you in person.”

“Edison, Fábio’s brother, Jaqueline, the widow. I have to thank these. This most humble person.” […] This message is aimed specifically at those Jose Pereira da Silva. The Baixada gang[Santista]. According to the family, one of the organs Fábio donated was his heart. Faustão also sent a message to José Pereira da Silva, the donor’s father:

“The only thing I promise is to honor your son’s memory by doing only good.”

Between August 19 and 26, 13 heart transplants were carried out in the country, seven of them in the state of São Paulo, including presenter Fausto Silva. The state government did not disclose the name of the heart donor for Faustão.

Faustão also spoke about the recovery process. He said he had been traveling for three days now.

“I still have a slight scratchy throat from being intubated, but I’m fine. But I’m in a good mood… I can already walk. I’ve been there for three days. That’s all I wanted.” Tell yourself. A kiss. May God give you. I double everything I received. This blessing. Thanks.”

The presenter also thanked fans and said he was “fully recovered.” He also commented on the queue for the operation.

Posttransplant recovery

72 hours after the heart transplant, his heart function is normalized and stable, said the medical bulletin published on Wednesday (30) by the Albert Einstein Hospital.

“The patient Fausto Silva is progressing as expected. He communicates normally and is very willing, 72 hours after the heart transplant that took place last Sunday at the Hospital Israelita Albert Einstein and some catheters were removed, in addition to the patient having started physiotherapy.”

A day earlier, on Tuesday morning (29), he was extubated and began breathing without aid, according to the hospital. The heart transplant was performed on Sunday (27).

“After a heart transplant last Sunday (August 27) at the Hospital Israelita Albert Einstein, Fausto Silva was extubated this morning and is breathing without aid. The patient is conscious, speaks normally and has good cardiac function. He stays healthy. in the intensive care unit,” the statement said.

The day after the transplant (Monday), the medical bulletin reported that the functions of the new heart were as expected.

“Patient Fausto Silva, who underwent a heart transplant yesterday, August 27, at the Hospital Israelita Albert Einstein, remains in the intensive care unit under sedation and breathing with the help of mechanical ventilation. His clinical condition is stable and his cardiac functions are as expected for the first 24 hours,” says the statement signed by Dr. Fernando Bacal, Cardiology, signed bulletin.

The medical team in charge of Faustão received the offer for the organ in the early hours of this Sunday (27). According to the Ministry of Health, the presenter was given priority on the waiting list due to his health condition, which was classified as serious.

“The selection created by the state transplant system’s computerized management system to offer this recipient’s heart produced 12 patients who met the requirements. Of these, four were prioritized, with the patient taking second place in this selection,” explained the São Paulo State Transplant Center.

The medical team of the patient who held the first position decided to reject the organ and therefore the offer went to the second patient in the selection who was the presenter.

According to the headquarters, Faustão has blood type B. The waiting time for a heart transplant for potential recipients in this group is 1 to 3 months.
