Faustão will “enjoy life after heart transplant: “No more work TV news

73yearold Fausto Silva has been admitted to the Albert Einstein Hospital since August 5 and hopes to be released in a maximum of ten days. After undergoing a heart transplant last Sunday (27), he left the intensive care unit on Friday (1) and is already making plans for the future. After almost six decades of working, he wants to “enjoy life”: “Don’t work anymore,” he said exclusively TV news.

“I’m already in the home stretch, I hope to be able to leave here in ten days. I am not in any pain, I am fully recovered and ready to enjoy life. After 60 years of work, because I’ve been working since the end of my life.” “At 14, I want to enjoy life,” he explained. “Enough of work, let’s enjoy it because life passes quickly,” he added.

After 32 years as Domingão do Faustão at Globo and a year and a half at Band, where he led a daily show, the presenter says he will no longer return to television. But don’t rule out “doing something on YouTube.” He wants to advocate for organ donation and can use the video platform to do so.

Faustão recently founded a production company. The company’s first product was to be a program by his son João Guilherme Silva, shown by Band on Saturday evenings. The Teatro Itália in the center of São Paulo is already being prepared for recordings. However, Faustão will not work directly on the project. It is his former band directors who run the production company.

The moderator thanks the donor’s family

The presenter was hospitalized at the beginning of August after an examination by Albert Einstein. He underwent dialysis (blood filtering procedure) and took medication to improve his heart’s ability to pump blood. His doctors concluded he needed a transplant.

Due to the severity of his case, Faustão was given priority in the transplant queue in the state of São Paulo. Last weekend a compatible donor showed up. Silva was second in line, but the first’s medical team ruled out surgery at that time (this happens, for example, when the patient has an infection).

The operation took place on Sunday afternoon and lasted two and a half hours. The likely donor is a former amateur football player, Fábio Cordeiro da Silva, who died on Saturday (26) in Santos (SP) after suffering a stroke while working as a tiler.

On Thursday (31), in his first public appearance after hospitalization, Fausto thanked the donor’s family for their “absurd generosity” in a video on Instagram.

“[Quero] My special thanks go to José Pereira da Silva, Fábio’s father, who was incredibly generous, absurdly generous and made it possible for me to stay alive. I am forever grateful to José Pereira da Silva. “A simple man… I am moved because he gave me the chance to live again,” said Faustão, who also thanked Fábio Cordeiro da Silva’s brother and his widow.

These most humble people gave me a new heart when I needed it. I know there is a lot of nonsense on the internet, people talk nonsense. If I had worried about that, I wouldn’t have started my career in the first place.

Fausto indicated that he would reward the family. “I will always thank you, and I hope that one day I can thank you in person. It is a generosity that moves and motivates me. The only thing I promise is to honor your son’s memory and do only good things so that you can.” Be more and more proud. I will never forget you, one day I will thank you personally. May God reward you for everything you have provided for me. Eternally grateful,” he concluded.

In the video, Silva sat on a chair at the Hospital Israelita Albert Einstein. “So that everyone knows what a transplant is. So you can get an idea of the around 200 transplants.” [realizados]60 people waited less than a month. I was lucky in that respect too,” he said.
