At an event on Monday evening (28), the governor of São Paulo, Tarcísio de Freitas, said that moderator Fausto Silva’s (photo) heart transplant “went within the rules of the game”..
Faustão underwent surgery last Sunday (27th) at the Albert Einstein Hospital in São Paulo, where he has been hospitalized since August 5th to be treated for heart failure. The operation lasted two and a half hours and was considered successful.
“Everything was within the rules of the game, within absolute normality,” said Tarcísio. According to the governor, Faustão was not favored and the transplant queue was respected. “It’s good to know that the transplant system is working and that a person who was in need received this organ, that they are doing well, that they have a new perspective and a glimmer of hope,” he added .
According to Folha, the selection for the heart that the presenter ultimately received resulted in “12 patients who met the requirements.” Among the potential recipients, four took precedence. Faustão took second place in this selection. The patient’s transplant team, who held the first position, decided to reject the organ and therefore proceeded to the second patient, who was Faustão.”
Rejections, the São Paulo newspaper explains, can occur when there are potential incompatibilities between the recipient and the donor.
