Fear on board, plane loses fuselage parts in flight: "A bang, the window and wall were torn away"



An Alaska Airlines Boeing 737 Max 9 landed shortly after takeoff from Portland, Oregon, in the northwest of the United States of America, after a window and part of the aircraft wall came off: the photos published on social media document the damage is truly remarkable. There was great fear on board, but no one was injured.



There were 171 passengers on board: photos of the damage

The plane with 171 passengers and 6 crew members was on its way to California: it had a problem and returned to Portland airport at 5:26 p.m. local time. The Federal Aviation Administration has launched an investigation to fully resolve the incident.

Passenger Kyle Rinker took the following photo and told CNN: “Everything was really sudden, there was a bang, as soon as we reached altitude the window and wall flew away.”

“Alaska Airlines Flight 1282 from Portland, Oregon to Ontario, California suffered an accident shortly after departure this evening,” the company said in a statement. “The aircraft landed safely at Portland International Airport with 171 guests and 6 crew members. The safety of our guests and employees is always our top priority. Although these types of events are rare, our flight crew has been trained and prepared to safely handle the situation.”
