The rapper, guest of Fabio Fazio in Nove, announced that he would open a center for children with mental disorders and appealed to the government not to cut the psychologist’s bonus
On the one hand success, on the other hand pain: Fedez, Fabio Fazio’s guest on Che tempo che fa sul Nove, shows this second side in particular. He talks about his illness, how the tumor has changed him, and announces his commitment to opening a community center for children with mental disorders. He also calls on the government not to cut funding for the psychologist bonus. The illness made me realize how important time is and how a wound needs time to heal. “And then I clearly understood how important mental health is and that this issue is a specific emergency that is not limited to a club,” the rapper reflected.
Fazio asks him if he lives with fear after his illness: After the last episode the fear has returned enough, I didn’t expect to risk my life again in such a short time and that’s why you think about it for a while, he answers with his eyes. glittering. At this point, Fazio remembers Vialli and shows a picture of him: “I see him and it makes me cry, surreal because I have never seen him in person,” Fedez says through tears, remembering his generosity as a human being. Does he feel better after his illness, continues Fazio? I would like to tell you, yes, but the truth is that no, unfortunately after the illness I had other problems related to mental health, unfortunately I have not improved as a person yet, but I am working on it.
Fedez then goes into more detail about mental disorders: “It all started when I was released from the hospital, a friend of mine said to me: “In my opinion you should tell your experiences to a journalist,” to Aldo Cazzullo, and it was that right choice. After this interview, read by millions of people, I began to understand that this was an emergency in every sense.
Fedez recalled the alarming number of young people suffering from mental disorders, the need for more psychologists and the AIFA report that among the 20 most commonly prescribed drugs, six were antidepressants or anxiolytics. This means, the rapper continued, that those who govern us know this data and no one talks about it. This is where his appeal comes in: the last government allocated 25 million euros for the psychologist bonus, which only covered 10% of the need, this government has decided to cut it and increase it to 5 million euros. What I would like to ask the Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni and Giorgetti: Do not cut these 25 million in the new budget, because that would mean spitting in the faces of the families who need it.
And then Fedez announces his specific commitment: With my foundation, I would like to open a free community center for young people that helps young people with mental health problems.
The rapper also took responsibility for the decision to share much of his life on social media, including his illness: A lot of people have accused me of being a pain pornographer. I don’t think so, then everyone has their own sensitivity. I believe that recovery was a form of distraction for me when I was having a problem. But most importantly, for those facing something similar, such a statement can be something that entertains you, something you can relate to, something that can be helpful, even if minimally, he said.
Fedez had given his followers preemptive assurances before participating in Che tempo che fa: “If you see me stuttering, don’t worry,” he said via Instagram Stories. I’m going to talk about a topic that’s very important to me and things that I’ve honestly never talked about in public before, in fact I’m pretty nervous. I’d like to set up a premise to get my hands on it: It’s possible that during the interview, when I’m talking about certain things that happened to me, I might stutter. So if you see me stuttering, don’t worry, I do well, it’s just that talking about certain things brings things back, I don’t know, it makes me talk in fits. But everything is normal, that’s it.
He also wanted to talk to Belve and Francesca Fagnani about mental health before Rai ended his participation in the program.
The stutter mentioned by the rapper takes us back to the time after Sanremo last February, when Fedez appeared visibly tired during a live Internet broadcast and found it very difficult to speak. He then explained the situation himself, saying that he had been going through a difficult time related to the festival and that he had taken a very strong antidepressant (on a doctor’s prescription) and then stopped taking it, which caused him to have serious side effects.
Fazio also returned to the topic of Sanremo, first joking about the possibility of actually becoming its artistic director in 2025, as Fiorello had jokingly announced, and then, once again seriously, assuring that he really wouldn’t be at the festival next year: “No, he won’t be in Sanremo this year, don’t worry,” he said.
