Politicians rampage in El Hormiguero. Pablo Motos’ interviews with Pedro Sánchez this Tuesday and Alberto Núñez Feijóo on Wednesday were two of the most watched programs this season on the veteran channel Antena 3. The one with the President of the Government gathered 2,922,000 viewers, while that with the President of Die Opposition gathered 3,079,000 spectators. Although the difference in viewership was not huge, the gap was larger when comparing screen share (the percentage of all viewers currently watching TV): Feijóo reached 25.9% while Sánchez achieved 22.8% each remained very high data for the current average audience.

If you take a closer look at the viewer data, it was women who brought the most viewers to the show during these two days. The age group that followed the interview with Sánchez the most was 25-44 year olds. However, among Feijóo viewers, according to the data, the age groups from 13 to 24 years and from 45 to 64 years stand out an analysis of Advisor Two 30′ based on data from the Kantar Media audit. After autonomies, the interview with Sánchez attracted the most interest in Madrid, where it reached a share of 30.8%, while Feijóo’s visit to Murcia stood out with a share of 36.5%. On the other side of the table, the Basque Country and Catalonia were the places where there was less follow-up on both interviews.

The visits of Sánchez and Feijóo to El Hormiguero have resulted in high positions of politicians who have managed to attract larger audiences during their visits to El Hormiguero. The interview with Santiago Abascal in October 2019, which was followed by 4,049,000 viewers (share 23.5%), is still at the top. If we go by viewership and not by screen share, then comes that of José Luis Martínez-Almeida, Mayor of Madrid, who gathered 3,880,000 viewers in front of the screen in March 2021 (22%). In third place is the interview with Isabel Díaz Ayuso in November 2021, which attracted 3,588,000 viewers (23.2%). The visit of former President Felipe González in May 2021 also attracted a lot of attention with 3,417,000 spectators. Far away was Mariano Rajoy when he was on the show, already as a former President, on December 10, 2019 with 2,530,000 viewers.

In the last campaign for the parliamentary elections, with the exception of Pedro Sánchez, the main leaders of the list also went through the program. Pablo Casado gathered 2,590,000 viewers in front of the television, while Albert Rivera, during his time as a candidate for Ciudadanos, averaged 3,051,000 viewers. Pablo Iglesias, leader of Podemos at the time, gathered 2,435,000 spectators. Previously, in 2015, a special after-hours visit by Pablo Iglesias to El Hormiguero had attracted 3.8 million viewers.
