Quebec’s Félix Auger-Aliassime confidently won his first singles duel at the Basel tennis tournament on Wednesday.
The 19th player in the world defeated the Swiss Leandro Riedi in straight sets 6:3 and 6:2. The duel only lasted one hour and 16 minutes.

“FAA,” the event’s sixth seed, has broken through the 169th defending champion on the world stage four times. However, Auger-Aliassime had to accept failures with his serve, he only succeeded in 55% of his first attempts. However, it was only broken once.
The 23-year-old Montrealer had six aces and 15 winners. He also committed just six unforced errors.
Auger-Aliassime is the defending champion in Basel. The Maple Leaf representative began the competition by lowering the flag in doubles. He and his partner Sebastian Korda lost in straight sets 6:2, 6:4 to Austin Krajicek and Ivan Dodig.
In the next individual round, the 23-year-old Montrealer will face Dutchman Botic van de Zandschulp. Both men have one win each in their two career matches on the ATP Tour. He is the 65th player in the world to win the last confrontation, three sets 7-6(4), 6-7(4) and 6-3 at the 2022 edition of the Indian Wells tournament.
