Quebec’s Félix Auger-Aliassime slipped three places when the ATP rankings were released on Monday and is now ranked 22nd in the world.
This means he falls out of the top 20 in the world for the first time since June 2021.
Auger-Aliassime didn’t have a great 2023 season, but finished strong, most recently winning the tournament in Basel, Switzerland.
Djokovic extends his lead at the top
The Serbian Novak Djokovic, who was crowned with victory in his 40th Masters 1000 in Paris on Sunday, continues to occupy first place in the world rankings with an increased lead over the Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz.
Holger Rune is the loser of the week, falling three places to 10th.
The Dane, winner of the Paris tournament last year, was eliminated in the quarterfinals by Djokovic this year. His lost points mathematically enable the Norwegian Casper Ruud (7th), the German Alexander Zverev (8th) and the American Taylor Fritz (9th) to gain place.
However, based on his previous ranking, Ruud was selected to play alongside Djokovic and Alcaraz at the season-ending Masters in Turin next week. Also taking part are the Russian Daniil Medvedev, 3rd, the Italian Janik Sinner, 4th, the Russian Andrey Rublev, 5th, the Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas, 6th, and Zverev.
Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov, 14th, finalist in Bercy against Djokovic, made the biggest progress in the top 20, improving by three places at once.
At the age of 28, Chilean Nicolas Jarry achieved the best ranking of his career by moving up one place to number 19 in the world rankings.
