Femicide in Valleyfield: The accused is said to have stabbed his partner 119 times –

A Salaberry-de-Valleyfield pizza delivery driver who used cocaine during his shift allegedly killed his wife with 119 stab wounds in their home before turning himself in to police in November 2019.

“Linda Lalonde sat at the table with her back to her husband. He told her to close her eyes, he had a surprise for her. He took a knife from a block – the largest knife – and delivered a first blow to the back. The autopsy revealed 119 wounds inflicted with a sharp object,” Crown prosecutor Me Hélène Langis summarized in her opening statement.

The jury trial of Stéphane Massé opened this morning at the Salaberry-de-Valleyfield courthouse. The 41-year-old man is accused of murdering his 49-year-old wife, Linda Lalonde, in their Verner Street apartment.

That day, Massé presented himself at a police station in Montreal and said he was coming forward for “killing his partner.”

If the interrogation had been filmed, he would have confessed everything, Mr. Langis told the jury, who will also have the opportunity to watch the whole thing during the trial.

“You will hear from the mouth of Mr. Massé what happened in the hours before and after the murder of Linda Lalonde,” said Crown prosecutor working with Me Lili Prévost-Gravel.
