Ferrari suspends sales in Russia and donates $1 million to help Ukraine

Ferrari stops deliveries of its cars to Russia.

The luxury car maker announced on Tuesday that it has suspended production of cars destined for the Russian market until further notice in response to the invasion of Ukraine.

The company also pledged to donate 1 million euros ($1.09 million) to aid through the Red Cross, the UNHCR and an organization helping Ukrainian refugees stationed near a Ferrari factory in Italy.

“Ferrari supports everyone in Ukraine affected by this ongoing humanitarian crisis,” Ferrari CEO Benedetto Vigna said in a press release.

“While we hope for a quick return to dialogue and a peaceful solution, we cannot remain indifferent to the suffering of all those affected. Our thoughts and support go to them. We play our small role together with institutions that bring immediate relief to this situation.”

In 2021, Ferrari sold a record 11,115 vehicles, including 1,288 vehicles in the EMEA (Europe, Middle East, Africa) region, which includes Russia. How many vehicles were sold in Russia itself was not specified, but the company described it as a “small market” last week, according to Reuters.
