Festibière de Lévis: a 5th edition full of surprises and novelties – Le Journal de Québec

The fifth The edition of the Festibière de Lévis starts this Thursday at the Quai Paquet site, next to the Lévis crossing. For that fifth For the anniversary, the organization is planning several innovations, including the tasting of five exclusive products commented by a beer specialist.

The Beerfest team also used this five-year anniversary to change the theme of the event. Formerly called “The Art of Tasting”, the theme becomes “Boire du pays”.

“It’s a theme that focuses on discovery and travel, whether it’s travel in beer, art or music,” explains Alexandra Bolduc, communications manager at Evenma, organizer of the event.

This theme will be reflected in particular in a treasure hunt between the microbreweries, the live creation of a work painted on a car, the development of a huge collaborative work in the form of a birthday card on the traditional giant letters of the Festibière and the presence of several musical groups. There is also the “Silent Disco” with six DJs who will get people dancing.

Beers, ciders and whiskey

More than 350 products will be offered by the 70 exhibitors on site. This is a record for the event in terms of the variety of products to be tasted. As this demand grows in popularity, there will also be nearly thirty non-alcoholic products.

“It’s a family site, so we want to encourage families to visit us,” says Ms. Bolduc.

For this special edition, festival-goers will have the opportunity to get tattooed on site and choose a tattoo from among the works specially created for the occasion.

“For example, people will be able to have a hop casserole tattooed on them, and all in a safe way, given the nature of the event,” the spokesman points out.

Even though the weather forecast is currently uncertain, the Beerfest organization remains confident of beating last year’s attendance record.

“We will have the Le Bucké pub, which will be covered, it’s not too small,” notes Ms Bolduc. And if conditions allow, the microbreweries will set up small tents in front of their kiosk to provide shelter for people, so that doesn’t scare us.”

Back to physical tokens

Last year, Beerfest offered the opportunity to buy virtual tokens through the Trendigo application. However, the popular option caused a lot of problems for the organization, as the system stopped working several times during the events.

“We are returning to physical tokens, but the remaining tokens purchased through the application will still be valid and eventually we will return to virtual tokens,” specifies Ms. Bolduc.

Le Festibière de Lévis takes place from June 29th to July 2nd.
