Statistics have never been compiled for this purpose, but if there were a ranking of the artists who played the Plains of Abraham most often, Les Cowboys Fringants would rank high.

When they perform to tens of thousands of festival-goers on Thursday night, it will be their eleventh career concert on the Plains: seven at the festival, four on National Day.

It all started in 2000, shortly after the release of the Motel Capri album. Then they play in the first part of Plume Latraverse.
They didn’t remain door openers for long. Fueled by the success of the Break syndical album, the group then formed of Karl Tremblay, Jean-François Pauzé, Marie-Annick Lépine, Jérôme Dupras and Dominique Lebeau returned to the Plains for FEQ in 2002 before offering themselves a double FEQ – National day in the following year.

In 2005, The Cowboys dreamed big and spearheaded a ten-hour musical marathon that also featured several artists including Stephen Faulkner, Éloi Painchaud, Vincent Vallières, Mononc’ Serge, Les Zapartistes, Tryo, Loco Locass and Dumas.
It was a paid show, possibly the only time in FEQ history that the pass ($20 at the time) was not enough to access the site. A fee of $30 was charged.
In 2006, on National Day, Les Cowboys Fringants continued a streak of three consecutive summers on the Plains, ending when they succeeded French singer Renaud on the opening night of the 2007 Summer Festival.

FEQ and Cowboys then parted ways for a decade. The group, now a quartet since the departure of Dominique Lebeau, has nevertheless taken part in the Saint-Jean show twice.
In 2010, he was responsible for hosting the National Day after-concert by taking the stage at midnight sharp. Three years later, Les Cowboys are at the center of the amazing TV show starring Plume Latraverse, Louis-Jean Cormier and Lisa LeBlanc.

Their last appearance on the Plains dates back to 2017, when the summer festival gave them a first pass, with which the group organized a large gathering to which Voivod, Frannie Holder, Clowns and artist Martin Bureau were invited.
