MANILA (Philippines) – The pairings and schedule for the quarterfinals of the 2023 FIBA Basketball World Cup are now confirmed after the second round successfully concluded today in the Philippines, Indonesia and Japan.
Quarter finals
The quarterfinals of the 2023 FIBA Basketball World Cup will all take place on Tuesday and Wednesday, September 5th and 6th.
5th September
- LTU vs SRB – 16:45 local time (08:45 GMT)
- ITA vs USA – 8:40 p.m. local time (12:40 p.m. GMT)
September 6th
- GER vs LAT – 16:45 local time (08:45 GMT)
- CAN vs. SLO – 8:30 p.m. local time (12:30 p.m. GMT)
Lithuania versus Serbia
2010 third-place Lithuania has not lost in the 2023 tournament and moves into the quarterfinals with momentum to beat the United States. Serbia bounced back from defeat to Italy to reach the top eight for the fourth consecutive year, including second place in 2014.
Italy versus USA
Italy will face the USA after finishing first in the second round, while the Americans will be hungry to bounce back from their loss to Lithuania and complete the group stage. Five-time world champions USA have a 12-2 lead over Italy.
Germany against Latvia
Germany secured a place in the top eight for the first time since 2006, while Latvia reached the quarter-finals on their debut. Germany has always held a 3-2 lead over Latvia and won their last game at FIBA EuroBasket 2011.
Canada vs. Slovenia
Canada reached the quarterfinals for the first time since 1994 and will face Slovenia, who are in the top eight for the third consecutive year. Slovenia and Canada have only met once – the Europeans won the 2008 FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournament.
