An American influencer mother who allegedly falsely accused a Hispanic couple of trying to kidnap their two children has been sentenced to 90 days in prison for fabricating the story.
“Ms. Sorensen’s report was found to be false and was strongly contradicted by the accused couple, as well as the store video that was obtained,” prosecutors said in Kathleen “Katie” Sorensen’s case, as CBS San Francisco reported Thursday.
Last April, the Petaluma, California influencer mom was found guilty of falsely accusing a Latino couple of attempting to kidnap their two children from a craft store in December 2020.
The same day, the woman filed a complaint with Petaluma Police before recounting the story a week later in a video she shared with her more than 57,600 followers on Instagram, which reportedly racked up more than 4 million views – which earned him dozens According to American media, there are thousands of new subscribers.

“After years of avoiding responsibility and then learning that she had been found guilty and came out handcuffed… yes, justice has been done,” the woman said in an interview with Elle magazine during the sentencing responded in April, CBS reported.
For her part, Katie Sorensen was sentenced to 90 days in prison and a 12-month suspended sentence that banned her from accessing social media.
