That International Federation of Associated Football (FIFA) announced this Friday, December 16, the Club World Cup with 32 teams, similar to the World Cup of countries that had the same number of participants by 2022.

This was announced by Gianni Infantino, President of FIFA, during a press conference. In this context, he named a provisional date for the start of the tournament.

“As you will recall, a few years ago we agreed to host a new 24-team men’s Club World Cup. This should have taken place in 2021 but has been postponed due to COVID-19,” he began.

When does the Club World Cup take place?

“The new Men’s Club World Cup will therefore take place in 2025 and will feature 32 teams. Of course the details have yet to be discussed and agreed, but the 32-team tournament will go ahead and really make it like a World Cup.”

“We had planned a Club World Cup with 24 teams for 2020. It has not been replaced or moved. We did this to make the Copa América and Eurocopa possible and to protect the health and well-being of the players and not overload the calendar.

Where does the Club World Cup take place?

Infantino confirmed that the country chosen to host this tournament is Morocco, a semi-finalist in Qatar 2022.
