Last Wednesday, May 17th, FIFA officially presented the logo of the World Cup 2026, a tournament that for the first time in history will be held in three countries: Mexico, the United States and Canada. During the brand launch of the next World Cup, which will be held in Los Angeles, the President said Gianni Infantino and former Brazilian player Ronaldo attended the ceremony, which also announced the campaign “We are 26” (“We are 26”).
“For the first time, an image of the trophy and tournament year is presented in an innovative design language that anchors the emblem for 2026 and beyond. “The imagery of the trophy and year will allow for customization to reflect the uniqueness of each host country, while building an identifiable branding structure for years to come,” FIFA said in a statement.

But despite the stylish presentation, fans on social media unanimously rejected the elaborate design because they thought it was too simple. With ironic comments and even memes, users expressed their dissatisfaction with the logo.

When does the 2026 World Cup start?
The scheduled start date for the 2026 World Cup is June 11 this year and the final would be held on July 19. It will be the first edition to be held with 48 participating teams.
