This Wednesday, January 10th, the disciplinary committee will meet Fifa sanctioned the Peruvian team along with other South American teams due to incidents that occurred in the final dates of the 2026 qualification for the next World Cup. The sanctions became official several months after the games were played.
La Bicolor received two fines for the games against Argentina and Bolivia on matchdays four and five of the new qualification process respectively.
How much are the two fines for the Peruvian team?
According to the EFE agency, the first sanction against Peru is due to the intrusion of some national fans onto the pitch in the match against Albiceleste on October 17 at the National Stadium. For this violation, Bicolor was fined 7,500 Swiss francs, which is equivalent to just over $8,800.
As we remember, at the end of the game, several fans stormed the Nacional pitch in search of Argentine star Lionel Messi. This sparked a reaction from several players, particularly goalkeeper Pedro Gallese, who blocked a fan from approaching Messi and angrily threw his cell phone onto the turf.
The second fine is 10,000 Swiss francs, equivalent to about $11,700, and is due to a delay in the game against Bolivia in La Paz on November 16. The national team lost 0-2 in both games.
