Fifteen shots are enough for the Sabers

The Buffalo Sabers managed just 15 shots on goal, but that didn’t stop them from defeating the Philadelphia Flyers 5-2 on Wednesday night at the Wells Fargo Center.

The guests took the lead at the start of the third period. Defender Owen Power beat goalkeeper Samuel Ersson with a powerful wrist shot. It was the first goal of the season for the first-ever player selected in the 2021 draft (Watch the main video).

Csaey Mittelstadt, Tage Thompson and Brandon Biro (twice) were the winning team’s other goalscorers. The Flyers’ answer came with the bats of Joel Farabee and Cam Atkinson.

It was goalkeeper Carter Hart who gave the starting signal for the crowd favorite. However, the 25-year-old suffered an injury in the first third and had to abandon the game. He allowed two goals on five shots.

At the other end of the ice, Ukko-Pekka Luukonen stopped 38 of his rivals’ 40 shots.

It was the second win in a row for the Sabres. They will return to action on Friday when the Flyers visit them at KeyBank Center. For their part, head coach John Tortorella’s team will try to end a series of four defeats.
