Comedian Filipe Pontes, 36, was arrested this Saturday (31) for assaulting his own mother after a dispute in Ribeirão Preto, São Paulo state.
The case was registered as “domestic violence, threats, bodily harm and factual crime”. Filipe’s mother also applied for an urgent protective measure against the artist. But who is actually Filipe Pontes?
Filipe Fernandes Pontes was born on October 3, 1986, in the city of Ribeiro Preto, inland of the state of São Paulo. The comedian belongs to the team of comedians who impersonate celebrities.
He was known for mimicking presenters Marcos Mion and Sabrina Sato, actors Antônio Fagundes and Selton Mello, journalist Marília Gabriela, and the character Tufão (played by Murilo Benício in Avenida Brasil).
The career
In 2007, Filipe passed the entrance exam to study physics, but started his career as a comedian after starring in the program “Se wird uns 30” in the extinct “Programa do Faustão” (TV Globo).
Participation in Faustão’s painting, in which he lost the prize to a howling dog, led to a special participation in the teenage story “Malhação”.
“Ever since I was a kid, 12 years old, I’ve had this impersonation job. But I impersonated teachers and things like that,” Filipe Pontes said in an interview with Jô Soares.
Shortly thereafter, he secured a job at “Zorra Total” thanks to a joke imitation by presenter Luciano Huck for the “Video Show”.
Until 2013, Pontes was part of the permanent cast of “Zorra Total” at TV Globo and at the same time acted as a comedian on “Altas Horas”.
RecordTV was the next professional challenge in the artist’s life. Outside of TV Globo, Filipe Pontes accepted the challenge of starring in the cast of Legendários, a program hosted by Marcos Mion.
So he stayed on Bishop Edir Macedo’s channel for three years, encouraged by the broadcasts to bring humorous images.
In 2017, Pontes was hired by TV Bandeirantes as a bet for the reformulation of the comedians of the show “Pânico na TV”. At that time, the attraction had to be innovative in order to be able to stand up to its competitor “Encrenca” (RedeTV!).
However, Filipe Pontes’ challenge at the Saad family station lasted less than a year. The artist left the station late the same year he arrived because the band decided to cut costs for the attraction due to low ratings.
Since then, he has appeared sporadically on shows such as The Night (SBT) and tried to tour Brazil with standup shows, but without much success.
Currently, Filipe Pontes had given up work with comedy, according to the Metrópoles website, and was studying medicine in inland São Paulo with help from his mother to pay tuition.
