It was Scottish director Charlotte Wells’ film Aftersun that won the Golden Wolf for Best Feature Film at the closing night of the 51st edition of the Festival du nouveau cinema (FNC) last Saturday.

This award is presented to the best film in the competition and comes with a $15,000 cash prize awarded by Quebecor.
The jury, made up of Sophie Bédard Marcotte, Olivier Bertrand and Mario Fortin, also awarded the interpretation prize to the lead actor of Aftersun, the Irishman Paul Mescal (Normal People).
The Daniel Langlois Innovation Award was presented to director Miryam Charles’ Quebec film This House.
In the national competition, Graham Foy’s drama The Maiden won the top prize, while Trevor Anderson’s Before In Change My Mind received a special mention. Note that Ryan McKenna’s film Promenades nocturnes received the Prix de la diffusion Québecor, which comes with a $30,000 grant for publicity services.
