Elaine Cristina Santos, journalist and presenter at Canção Nova, died this Tuesday (21) at the age of 38. She was 23 weeks pregnant and the baby also died. The news was confirmed by the Catholic broadcaster itself, where she worked for 15 years.
The cause of death was respiratory failure. According to Quem magazine, Elaine had been in the hospital in Lorena, São Paulo city, since Monday morning (20). The presenter was admitted with pneumonia and a generalized infection. The journalist’s health deteriorated and she could not resist.
Elaine and the baby, who was to be named Rafael, were buried this Tuesday (21) at the family home. The funeral will take place this Wednesday (22) from 10 a.m.
Elaine was married to Fernando Carvalho and already mother to Léo, just 1 year and 8 months old. Three years ago, the journalist experienced a dramatic episode with the loss of her first child. Theo died in the final stages of pregnancy, shortly before birth.
