Municipalities, universities and even hospitals in Quebec are among the best employers in Canada, according to a Forbes ranking of 300 companies.
Competitive salary, income equality between men and women or work flexibility: According to the financial magazine, many Canadians pay attention to these criteria when looking for a job.
Forbes therefore relied on several of these elements to create its list of the country's best employers, which was created after a survey of 40,000 people who work for companies with at least 500 employees.
Several Quebec companies have therefore performed well, particularly Concordia University, which is the first in the province to rank 5th nationally.
It is not the only university to make Forbes' top 300, as the University of Sherbrooke (23rd place) and Laval University (24th place) also made the list.
The municipalities also ranked quite high. This applies to the city of Quebec (17th place), the city of Laval (32nd place) and the city of Sherbrooke (160th place).
Three hospitals in Montreal are among the best employers in the country: the Jewish General Hospital (107th), CHU Sainte-Justine (144th) and the University of Montreal Hospital Center (269th).
Transportation companies also stood out, including two airlines with Air Canada (185th) and Transat AT (260th), and a railway with VIA Rail Canada (150th).
Among the other Quebec employers displayed, we can particularly highlight Hydro-Québec (7th place), Desjardins (26th place), Familiprix (116th place), Cascades (132nd place) and Rio Tinto (255th place).
