The company Rolling Square offers two models of plotters or GPS “trackers”, the AirCards. They are the size of a business card. AirCards must be stowed in a purse or backpack so that they can be found again if lost or stolen. These locators are compatible with the FindMy application available on the Apple App Store.

In the world of technology, plotters or GPS “trackers” are more present than ever to avoid losing our goods and to locate them through geolocation.
Airtags were popularized by Apple. Since then there have been many aftershocks.
However, they now have another serious competitor in the GPS tracker market: Rolling Square’s AirCards.
AirCard is like Apple’s AirTag, but what is it?
AirCards have the same function as Apple’s AirTags. That means we can put it in a wallet or backpack to be able to track it in case we ever lose it and our personal belongings are stolen.
The main advantage of the AirCard over the AirTag is that they are much more compact.
They are in the form of a metallic business card that we can easily slip into our wallet or backpack.
Thanks to the geolocation via GPS nearby, it is convenient to find our goods precisely.
When the user leaves their AirCard, an alert is sent directly to their mobile device.
If necessary, there is the option of activating an acoustic alarm of approx. 105 decibels. Compared to AirTags which sound at 65 decibels.
AirCards work with the same technology as Apple’s AirTags. That means they use FindMy! available in the App Store. As such, AirCards are currently only compatible with Apple devices.
Another benefit of AirCards is that they contain an NFC chip and a QR code. They are used to add our information in case someone with good intentions finds our wallet or backpack.
NFC and QR technologies also come in handy for entrepreneurs who want to share their business information. In summary, AirCards also serve as a virtual business card.
How does AirTag work?
AirTags and AirCards work on batteries. When a signal is sent to track our wallet, for example, the trackers use the GPS of nearby iPhones.
It is thanks to the other users who are close to the AirCard that the GPS positioning can be sent accurately in real time.
Two different AirCard models are offered. A slimmer card with a limited battery life of around 2 years and 6 months.
When an AirCard runs out of battery, there is an opportunity to send it to Rolling Square for a 50% discount off your next AirCard purchase.
This also allows the company to use certain parts to manufacture new parts. This is how we avoid creating too much electronic waste.
The other model also has the shape of a business card, but is thicker. This has the advantage that it can last a lifetime. Because the batteries are replaceable.
As of this writing, Rolling Square AirCards are still crowdfunded through the KickStarter platform.
That said, they are not currently available in the market, however, the company wants to raise money before the product officially launches.
When we rely on other Rolling Square gadgets like this magnetic accessory that enhances our cellphones, tablets and computers, or this portable keychain battery that charges our smart devices, it’s fascinating to see their next evolution.
