Finn Wolfhard is “proud” of Stranger Things co-star Noah Schnapp for coming out

Finn Wolfhard has shown his support for his Stranger Things co-star Noah Schnapp after coming out as gay last month.

“When I saw it, I just had a big smile on my face,” the 20-year-old said in an interview with GQ published Wednesday. “I was just really proud of him.”

Wolfhard, who plays Mike Wheeler in the hit Netflix series, said he and the rest of the cast work like family.

Wolfhard’s comments come almost a month after 18-year-old Schnapp shared a TikTok video in which he opened up about his sexuality to his more than 32 million followers.

“When I finally told my friends and family I was gay after 18 years of being scared in the closet and all they said was, ‘We know,'” the ‘Abe’ star wrote on Beginning of clip from January 5th.

Schnapp then formed the words of a woman who said: “You know what it never was? So serious. It’s never been this serious. Honestly, it will never be that serious.”

“I think I’m more like Will than I thought I was,” he captioned the post, referring to his Stranger Things character Will Byers.

The actor received a lot of praise from fans in the comments section of his coming out video.

“So happy for you!!!! 💗💗,” one person wrote, while another added, “Welcome to the Fun Club✨.”

“This is the most iconic coming out of all time,” commented a third fan.

“THE WAY I ROASTED. SO PROUD OF YOU <3,” wrote a fourth person.

The first season of Stranger Things premiered on Netflix in 2016 when Wolfhard and Schnapp were 13 and 11, respectively. Filming for the fifth and final season of the supernatural thriller is set to begin in May.
