Replacement batteries for Dyson V6 series vacuum cleaners pose a risk of fire and burns and should no longer be used.

The affected batteries are the FirstPower 4000mAh V6, which is sold on Amazon.ca. The defective products were found in two lots sold in Canada between January 2022 and April 2022: lot number PO2111150260 and lot number PO2111120226.

The affected product may overheat and there is a risk of fire and burns.

“Stop using the product immediately and dispose of it by contacting your municipality for instructions on the safe transport and disposal of lithium-ion batteries,” Health Canada warned.

The battery manufacturer states that the product is compatible with Dyson V6 series vacuum cleaners SV04, DC58, DC59, DC61, DC62, DC72, DC74, Absolute Animal Motorhead Slim, SV03, SV04, SV05, SV06, SV07, SV09. FirstPower batteries are not Dyson products nor are they authorized by Dyson.

The Amazon Standard Identification Number (ASIN) for this product is B085RSLXK1.

Batteries are considered hazardous waste. Do not throw them in the trash, the agency reminded.
