Fire in Longueuil: the population ordered their windows to be closed

At the end of Friday, a “low risk” fire broke out at a metallurgical plant in the Saint-Hubert district of Longueuil, forcing residents to confine themselves to their homes.

SPAL workers were assisting the Longueuil Agglomeration Fire Protection Service in a fire that broke out around 5pm at a metallurgical works, Metalliage, on Ramsay Street.

According to initial information, the fumes are not dangerous, but as a precaution, authorities have instructed residents to close doors and windows to avoid nuisance, said SPAL publicist François Boucher.

In this area, traffic obstructions are to be expected for an indefinite period, SPAL announced on Facebook.
