At least seven people died and around 100 were rescued in the Philippines on Monday after a ferry fire forced passengers overboard, coast guards and witnesses said.
A fire broke out on the Mercraft 2 around 6:30 a.m. Sunday while it was transporting 134 passengers and crew from Polillo Island to Real in Quezon province on the main island of Luzon the Philippines.

Seven others were missing and a search operation was underway. The boat had a capacity of 186 people.
