Fire risk 86000 Volkswagen and Audi vehicles recalled in Canada

Fire risk: 86,000 Volkswagen and Audi vehicles recalled in Canada

More than 80,000 Volkswagen and Audi vehicles are being recalled in Canada due to a fire risk caused by a mechanical problem in the fuel tank.

“The problem stems from the ejector gasket installed in the gasoline tank, which can cause fuel to enter the evaporative emissions control system and possibly leak from the carbon filter,” Volkswagen explained in a press release to information site Daily Hive.

Affected vehicles include the 2015-19 Audi A3 front-wheel drive sedan, 2019-20 Volkswagen Jetta GLI and 2015-19 Golf SportWagen.

However, the company estimates that only 1% of vehicles are affected. Additionally, no cases of fire, injury or accident have been reported at this time.

Four-wheel drive vehicles are not affected by the recall.

Customers will be notified when replacement parts are available and can benefit from the change at no additional cost, the company added.

More than 261,000 front-wheel drive vehicles have been recalled in the United States for the same problem, and the recall covers models from 2015 to 2020, including the VW Golf, GTI, Audi A3, Golf SportWagens and VW Jetta.
