A cloudy sky is expected in France. Smoke from the gigantic fires that have devastated part of Canada has crossed the Atlantic and is expected to reach Europe and France in the coming days, according to simulations by the European Center for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts on Friday June 23. According to Mark Parrington, scientific director at the Copernicus Service for Atmospheric Monitoring, the fumes could reach the coasts of western Europe on Monday, June 26.

In Canada, more than 4.6 million hectares of forest have been destroyed by the flames in recent weeks and tens of thousands of people have had to be evacuated. Several hundred fires were registered. As a result of these fires, more than 100 million Americans were affected by an air quality warning in early June. A few weeks later, these unprecedented fires spread to Europe.
