Ahsoka Tano is coming to streaming sooner than you might think
Ashoka Tano’s new Disney Plus series isn’t too far away. The upcoming series will be released in August 2023, Disney announced at Star Wars Celebration. Lucasfilm also showed the first trailer for Ashoka, which shows Rosario Dawson in full Jedi action, teases the first live-action Thrawn from Star Wars, and reveals Mary-Elizabeth Winstead as the live-action Hera Syndulla from Star Wars: Rebels.
Ahsoka will follow the Togruta Jedi in the aftermath of most of their animated appearances, around the same time we see them in The Mandalorian and Book of Boba Fett. While we’ve gotten these few glimpses of them so far, Disney hasn’t revealed much more about the show’s premise or what other popular Star Wars characters might make an appearance. Another thing we do know is that Hayden Christensen will show up as Anakin in the series one way or another.
According to the Star Wars Twitter account, filming for the series began in early May. The tweet announced that production on the series was underway, along with a picture of a chair on set and a cowboy hat suspiciously resembling ones Dave Filoni likes.
In addition to Rosario Dawson in the title role, Ahsoka will also star Mary-Elizabeth Winstead (Scott Pilgrim vs. The World) and Ray Stevenson (Thor). Filoni will serve as executive producer and one of the writers for Ahsoka, but we don’t yet know who will direct or write the rest of the series.
