First came DJ Ötzi, then the groom’s company burned down

The marriage of a tire dealer in Gammertingen (Sigmaringen district) in Baden-Württemberg ended Saturday night to Sunday with a massive fire and damages worth millions.

Next to his company’s premises, Bruno G., 61, celebrated his marriage to his 38-year-old wife and about 300 guests on Saturday night.

G. is one of the biggest tire dealers in southern Germany, according to the “Schwäbische Zeitung” his marriage included an extensive concert program.

So jets flew over the party, then pop singer DJ Ötzi performed in Gammertingen.

At 10:30 pm, fireworks reportedly went off on private property, and at 11:30 pm the first emergency reports were received by firefighters.

A new warehouse and the company’s administration building caught fire. Whether fireworks from the wedding party caused the fire has yet to be determined.

Apparently, the businessman took his own safety precautions with a fire watch. According to the Fire Department, welded tires contributed to the rapid spread of the fire. 380 firefighters from four municipalities were mobilized. Four people suffered from smoke inhalation and had to be treated in hospitals.
