Jill Biden, 70, released a video on Monday with some of the Sesame Street cast to share “kindness” and asked the kids to be polite to “monsters” while sharing the day’s news.
“Hi, my name is Jill Biden and I’m here with my good friend Gabrielle,” First Lady Biden said from the famous PBS set during the Sesame Workshop Coming Together video.
“Hi, we’re here to bring you the news of the day,” said Gabrielle, a 6-year-old doll first introduced to the cast of Sesame Street in 2018.
“Today’s word is kindness. It means doing something to show that you care about people, animals or the environment,” Biden explained.
“There are many ways to show kindness,” Gabrielle agreed in a nearly two-minute pre-recorded video.
Then the famous red-haired doll Elmo came onto the set with his adopted dog Tango to present a photo of the first lady, which Biden said was an example of kindness towards people.
A close-up of an image showing Biden holding a newspaper and showing off a French manicure turned out to be a hand-drawn image of the first lady holding hands with Gabrielle and Elmo.

Biden sat with the puppets and wore a dusty rose dress with a matching jacket.
She and Gabriel petted Tango, a puppet puppy, and played fetch, commenting that it was a good way to be kind to animals. And finally, the group watered some plants on Sesame Street to show kindness to the environment.
“When we do something for others, we feel good too,” said the wife of President Joe Biden.
“It’s important that we be kind to every person, monster, animal and environment,” she added, which was met with barks from Tango.
“And yes, puppies too,” she laughed.
Biden shared a video of the Sesame Street segment on her @FLOTUS Twitter account, writing, “Today’s Word of the Day from @SesameStreet is a reminder that small acts of kindness can go a long way.”
“It is important that we be kind to every person, monster, animal and environment,” said the First Lady, an educator.
Despite being First Lady of the United States, Dr. Biden still continues her lifelong teaching career, teaching classes at Northern Virginia Community College, where she taught during her time as Second Lady when President Joe Biden was second only to Barack Obama.
NOVA is the second largest community college in the United States.
Her classes are usually listed as being taught by “staff” so both for safety reasons and so that students won’t be forced to add her class to their semester just because it’s taught by the President’s wife.
