Sony Pictures Entertainment has released the first trailer for the upcoming superhero film Madame Web.
Madame Web, set to hit theaters on February 16, 2024, is connected to the Spider-Man film universe, although it is described as a “standalone origin story.” Madame Web, whose real name is Cassandra Webb, is a mutant with psychic powers who is associated with various Spider-Women in the comics. The film takes place before Madame Web sits in the wheelchair she uses in the comics.
Every Spider-Man movie spin-off is in development
Jessica Jones director SJ Clarkson is helming Sony’s first female-led Marvel film, starring Dakota Johnson as the title character and Sydney Sweeney as Julia Carpenter/Spider-Woman. Other cast members include Celeste O’Connor, Isabela Merced, Tahar Rahim, Mike Epps, Emma Roberts and Adam Scott.
The trailer reveals the four-member female team as well as Spider-Man-like villain Ezekiel “Zeke” Sims, played by Tahar Rahim. We also see Madame Web using her clairvoyant powers to replay a battle after a defeat she saw before.

Here is the summary:
“In a departure from the typical genre, Madame Web tells the original origin story of one of Marvel Publishing’s most enigmatic heroines. The tense thriller stars Dakota Johnson as Cassandra Webb, a Manhattan paramedic who may have clairvoyant abilities. Forced to confront.” After revealing revelations about her past, she forms a relationship with three young women who have a powerful future ahead…if they can all survive a deadly present.
Madame Web is one of many Spider-Man spinoffs in the works at Sony. Aaron Taylor-Johnson is set to star in Kraven: The Hunter in August 2024. Tom Hardy will reprise his role as Venom in the third film in the series, scheduled for release in November 2024. There’s also El Muerto and Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse coming soon. Morbius, starring Jared Leto as the titular vampire anti-hero, came out last year.
