The series poster features a striking shot of Princess Diana in a blue swimsuit sitting at the end of a pier.

While another eerie shot shows the queen walking alone through the shadows to an open door.

“The crown is a symbol of perseverance.” “It’s something you are, not what you do,” Foy said as footage of her in character appeared on television to begin the trailer.

She first took on the role of the monarch in the first and second seasons of The Crown, playing the young Queen Elizabeth.

“A part of our natural self is always lost.” We have all made sacrifices. It’s not a choice. “It’s a duty,” Colman then repeated.

The video featured a framed photo of her as the ruler she played in seasons three and four

The dramatic clip then shows Staunton in costume, quietly holding her hands before stepping onto a Buckingham Palace-style balcony to greet a cheering crowd.

“But what about the life I put aside? I wouldn’t – I put it aside?’ Then Staunton’s voice sounded questioning.

This comes after claims that The Crown could return as a film series once the royal drama’s sixth and final season airs later this year.

According to sources, Netflix is interested in continuing the series in some way, after it was previously thought that it would only run until the end of the sixth season.

A TV insider told the Sun: “Although this sounds like a drastic change, it was one that proved to be a huge success for Downton Abbey, which ran for 52 episodes before continuing as two hit films.”

“Creating a film, or perhaps a series of specials, means that the creators have a lot more flexibility when it comes to timing and subject matter.”

“They could deliver a prequel, perhaps focusing on the abdication crisis in the 1930s.” “On the other hand, there is the possibility of revisiting the royals of the 21st century, perhaps focusing on Harry Meghan and his argument with William.”

Web has contacted Netflix for comment.

Last month, Netflix insiders told the Mail On Sunday that another series of the hit royal drama may be coming.

The streaming platform has always insisted that the sixth season, expected to air in the fall, will be the last and will cover the events leading up to the late queen’s death last year.

But at a recent wrap party to mark the end of filming on these episodes, producers revealed that an additional series could be planned. With a wink, one manager suggested: “Just wait until next year – maybe we’ll be in production then.”

The big-budget series, which chronicles the late queen’s life since her marriage to Prince Philip in 1947, has become more controversial as the events it dramatizes – often with only a loose connection to the truth – become more contemporary.

So if a seventh season covered King Charles’ reign, it could make more headlines.

Another possibility would be a prequel focusing on the late queen’s childhood and youth.

The final scenes of season six depicted the 2005 wedding of Charles and Camilla, played by Dominic West and Olivia Williams.

Last month, West, 53, was visibly emotional as filming ended in Rochester, Kent, where he was representing Windsor. But the day ended in a celebratory mood as the cast and crew danced to a live band.

West was also the last man standing at the closing party, leaving the ceremony at the Natural History Museum at 3:30 a.m. Other participants included Imelda, who plays the Queen, and Jonathan Pryce, who plays Philip.

Olivia Colman and Claire Foy played younger versions of Her Majesty in previous series.
